Hungry Parrots (#HungryParrots) is a side project investigating the diet and foraging behaviour of wild parrots in Australia and New Zealand.

The natural diet of many native parrots is not fully understood, and records are scarce. Parrots are extremely adaptable and many species have been observed feeding on novel, non-native foods, especially in urban areas.

I have future plans for a citizen science project, but for now you can tag your parrot foraging observations with #HungryParrots. You can also email me photos and video (ideal!) of parrots feeding on things.

If you’re a researcher or organisation interested in collaborating on this project, please get in touch!
